Jason B. Meyer

Jason is an experienced corporate counsel with deep expertise in two practice legal areas: corporate ethics and compliance; and commercial transactions and contracts, especially those involving licensing, intellectual property, and strategic alliances. In addition, Jason has enjoyed years of success as a senior business executive and an engine for company growth, in the fields of compliance, publishing, and content delivery. Currently, he is bringing all this experience to bear as the Senior Leader of all of LRN’s Education Solutions.
Jason is the former Chair of the Ethics, Compliance, and Corporate Governance Committee of the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association (NJCCA).
As a general counsel and consultant, Jason’s clients have included the NovaCare Pharma Group of companies, for which he serves as Group General Counsel, and Heartland Payment Systems, Inc. (NYSE: HPY), for which he has served (on a contract basis) as Assistant General Counsel. NovaCare is a diversified set of entrepreneurial companies working in the manufacture, marketing and distribution of nutritional supplements, and in shared services. Heartland is one of the nation’s leading payment processors.
Previously, Jason was Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary, and SVP, Ethics and Corporate Compliance for Kaplan EduNeering in Princeton, which itself is a leading provider of compliance training and on-line learning management. In that capacity, Jason served as the company’s compliance officer, and also helped build innovative compliance programs for many client companies, including those regulated by the FDA.
Jason was also founder, President and General Counsel of the innovative LAWCAST® audio legal news services – the first legal information service of its kind. That private equity-funded company was winner of multiple journalism and venture fair awards. Its publications included Intellectual Property LAWCAST, Corporate Counsel LAWCAST, Computer and Internet LAWCAST and Employment and Labor LAWCAST. Jason began his legal career as a media lawyer at Miami’s Steel Hector & Davis, and then practiced in New Jersey at Lowenstein Sandler, and at Dechert.
Jason earned his law degree cum laude at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, and his B.A. with high honors from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
Jason served on the faculty of the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), where he spoke on “Strategic Alliances in the Current Economic Climate.” His how-to piece, “Top Ten Practical Ways to Enrich and Empower Your Compliance Program” was selected by the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) as its featured “Top Ten” article for September 2009. ACC also selected Jason to serve on the faculty of its 2010 Annual Meeting. Jason is also associated with the management consulting firm RES Partners.
A former broadcaster, Jason writes the leadgood.org blog on ethics in business leadership . He has also been a regular commentator on business law for CNN, and is a three-time Cub Scout Den Leader.
